Sandvik Coromant, the global leader in metal cutting, has released an updated range of its integral solid carbide drill CoroDrill® 860, which enhances customer productivity in steel drilling
Sandvik Coromant, the global leader in metal cutting, has released an updated range of its integral solid carbide drill CoroDrill® 860, which enhances customer productivity in steel drilling operations. The advanced -PM geometry provides high-performance drilling operations in ISO P steels while significantly improving tool life.
The CoroDrill® 860 drill with -PM geometry features an enhanced multi-layer physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating grade. These innovations result in optimized wear resistance, increased tool life, overall productivity improvement, and reduced cost per piece. The drill is perfect for typical applications in the automotive industry, general engineering, mold and die industries, and power generation.
The tool is available in standard diameters ranging from 3 mm (0.12 inches) to 16 mm (0.63 inches). Custom-made tools are also available to personalize the drill to meet specific machining requirements. Quotes and orders for custom drilling options can be requested by visiting the Sandvik Coromant website.
To further extend tool life and have a more sustainable machining strategy, the CoroDrill® 860-PM drill is suitable for Sandvik Coromant’s tool reconditioning program. After its service life, the tool can be included in Sandvik Coromant’s recycling program.
James Thorpe, Global Product Manager at Sandvik Coromant, said, “We are always updating our offerings because we know that improving productivity and reducing cost per piece are two of our customers’ main requirements. The introduction of this next generation of integral solid carbide drills with enhanced PVD coating will enable our customers to improve process safety, productivity, quality, and cost.”
